Mapping a braille world

Braille communication used to be limited to one kind of paper. We've changed that. Today everyone can put their ideas into print. No matter where you are or who you are.

History

From garage to global

The first Index Braille embosser came out of the CEO, Björn Löfstedt's, garage. It was called Index 3.7 and was technically a typewriter with a keyboard. For the first three years all production and development took place in the garage. Apart from the Braille printer, the company sold other products for the visually impaired.

In 1985 the production moved to an industrial building in Gammelstad, Sweden.

Around 1989 the braille embosser production was running well. The company changed name to Index Braille.

In 1990 Index Braille was in the lead of technological development on the Braille embosser market. Cad-design was a cutting edge-technology that was used early on. The company hired several talented people.

During the following decade Index Braille embossers were developed to the high level they are known for today.

In 2001 an efficient system for handling documents was implemented. Today we're on top on our deliveries, invoices and tenders.

The last few years the Index-building has been modernized. We have doubled our production efficiency. Our new office is inviting and completely paperless.
