The history of WinBraille
1997, with Windows 97, the world's braille embossers stopped. Without Ms-dos there was no device drivers for braille. Index Braille quickly developed WinBraille, a driver that simply formatted a document into Braille and sent it to the embosser.
WinBraille was developed further to be able to translate text into several Braille languages and preview documents before embossing.
Before long WinBraille could handle various languages and advanced formatting like maths, graphics, bullets and tables. But the more advanced device driver also became more difficult to use.
WinBraille 5 is a clean start. Our new device driver is as easy to use as any Windows software. And it has kept all its advanced features. WinBraille 5 is available in two versions; the simpler Light-version for free, and the more advanced PRO-version, that requires a license.
