Index Braille printer driver 8.1.0
The latest version of the Index Braille printer driver contains fixes for Windows 8/10 and supports both 32 Bit and 64 Bit versions.
Index printer drivers are available for both Windows and Mac. All Index embossers need printer drivers in order to function correctly. The Index printer drivers may be used with commercial braille editors and tactile graphics programs.
Support for Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 (32 Bit and 64 Bit) and Windows 10 (32 Bit and 64 Bit)
The printer driver support Index embossers generation V4 and V3.
This version suppresses unsupported BiDi-requests, which fixes a problem on Windows 8.x where the printer prints garbage each time the printer is connected to the computer.
Changes to 8.1.0
Bi-directional support disabled
Due to stability issues in Windows 8.x, bi-directional support has been
disabled in this release. If you require bi-directional support, please
contact the Index Braille support.
Index-direct-Braille is included
Index-direct-Braille is automatically installed with the driver. If you require
an installer without Index-direct-Braille, please contact Index Braille
support.
MSI-based installer
The installer for this driver is now based on MSI. This should alleviate most
of the problems of previous installers. If you require the specific MSI-
files, e.g. if you need to perform silent/automatic installs on a domain,
please contact Index Braille support.
Installation
Before proceeding to install version 8.1.0, please ensure that any previous
drivers are removed. The easiest way to do this is to run the driver-cleanup
available in ibPrint v7.0.0 and above. Since this driver includes Index-direct-
Braille, you will also need to remove any existing installation of Index-direct-
Braille.
Once all previous drivers and Index-direct-Braille is removed, simply start the
installer and follow the instructions.
