Duxbury Global Embosser setup 11.1 sr3 with esc sequences-X

First install Duxbury 11.1 SR3 or higher and Index Printer Driver 6.

When DBT is installed to support a specific embosser model, which is defined in the menu Global/ Embosser setup of Duxbury, the program controls the embosser via esc sequences. The result being that the braille page layout, duplexing etc is specified in DBT which will then override the embosser settings done on the front panel menu. These are the recommended settings for the instance when the user prefers to use different margin settings, duplexing format etc.
The paper size, A4, A3, letter 11x8.5, Tabloid 11x17 etc has to be selected from the front panel on the embosser to match the settings in DBT.

  • When starting Duxbury, select menu Global/Embosser setup...
  • In the section Brailler Device, select New.
  • Scroll to your "Embosser model" for example Index Braille Box V4, Index Everest V4 etc.
  • Give it the Setup Name "Index Everest-D V4 11x17 esc" or a name in which you will remember including the embosser model.
  • In Output Options, Check "Send to Printer" and scroll to your embosser driver example "Index Everest-D V4"
  • Open the tab "Device Settings".
  • Select embosser version in this case "Version 4".
Mark the check box "Interpoint Embossing is Enabled"
  • Select the tab "Advanced" and select
End of line indicator = Carriage return, Line feed (PC)
End of page indicator = Form Feed only
Mark the check boxes "EOL on full line" and EOP on a full page.
  • Click OK and return to the embosser setup window.
  • In Global/ Embosser setup menu, Select paper size: The paper sizes names in DBT is a bit different and the name "Folio" in the paper name gives four stitch binding printout in Everest-D V4 and Braille Box V4

Please note that the highlighted embosser name will be the default embosser.
  • Notice it is possible to create multiple embossers for e.g. Everest-D V4 with different settings such as different layout or duplexing. It is highly recommended to name the embossers in a significant manner, example "Index Everest-D V4 11x17 esc" or "Index Basic-D V4 11x8.5 esc" etc. To include "esc" is a way to remember that this Braille Device will override the embosser layout settings with escape sequences.
