Why is idB only supported by Index V5 & V4 embossers-X

Index-direct-Braille, idB, makes it possible to transfer Word/Pdf files to the V5/V4 embosser directly. idB will translate the file to Braille, format it to the Braille page format, adding page numbering and any other layout desires.

Index V5 and V4 embossers are the only Braille printers on the market with this functionality. This is because it requires:

  • Linux Operation System inside the embosser
  • Access to large memory
  • Significant CPU power
*This functionality is only available on the Index V5/V4 embosser lines and it is unfortunately not possible to implement it on older Index models.
