EU Coalition for Vision supports Marrakesh Treaty-X

Marrakesh Treaty on accesible reading materials has been endorsed by the European Coalition for Vision (ECV).

On 30 September 2016 the Marrakesh treaty to Facilitate Access to Published Works for Persons Who Are Blind, Visually Impaired or Otherwise Print Disabled was adopted after it received the support of 20 countries. However, the European Union and individual member state are still trying to resolve whether the EU can ratify the treaty on behalf of all member states.

Speaking for the Coalition, ECV Chair David Hewlett urged European governments to ratify the treaty immediately. According to him, this is an issue of fairness and equality as books open windows on the world for everyone.
