The importance of braille literacy-X

Celebrated on 4 January, the World Braille Day reminds us of the huge impact of Louis Braille's invention on the lives of the blind all over the world.

It was suggested by the World Blind Union that all blind and partially-sighted people get the opportunity to become proficient in braille reading and writing skills.

All blind and partially-sighted people should get access to up-to-date books and publications in braille. According the World Blind Union this can be achieved partially by the ratification of the Marrakesh Treaty, which allows for copyright exceptions to facilitate the creation of accessible books and other copyrighted work, as well as for the import and export of these materials across national boundaries.
