Release Notes - Firmware V5: 2017-07-03 

Highlights

  • Communication problems with print processors are now handled in a more user friendly manner
    • If communication with print processor fails, the embosser will now report this error and give feedback to the user.
  • idB now extracts "alt-tags" from images
    • The alt-tag text is printed Support for Index Braille Labeler has been added
  • Support for *.bra and *.elpp files in the Web App

Hotfix 2017-08-28:

  • Fix'd issue which caused WPS registration to fail (network-passphrase was not saved and subsequent connections failed).

Release Notes - Firmware V5: 2017-05-11 

Highlights

  • Release of firmware for Index Braille FanFold-D
    • First official firmware release for Index Braille FanFold-D
  • Speed synchronized hammer impact levels
    • Index Braille V5 models with the new V5b-hammers (magnets) now utilize different impact levels for different speeds. Allowing lower speed settings to take advantage of the possibility to emboss dots harder with improved shaping characteristics.
  • Updates to Liblouis
    • A new Spanish-Argentina grade 1 has been added.

Hotfix 2017-06-26:

  • Hotfix for new hammer batch (1724) .
  • Fix for idB. Improved detection of character encoding for MS Word .doc-files. This can help with translation problems experienced with Spanish, Russian and German .doc files. 


Hotfix 2017-06-08:

  • Hotfix for a bug that caused speed synchronized impact levels to fail for BrailleBox V5.
  • Hotfix for a bug that caused distributor default layouts to not be found for BrailleBox V5.
  • Hotfix for Japanese braille for single-sided printing. In order to increase legibility with single-line spacing, we have increased inter line distance with 1 mm. In order to fit slightly more lines onto a page for double-line spacing we have decreased the inter line distance with 1 mm.

Hotfix 2017-05-17:

  • Fixes issue which caused embossers with V5b-hammers (hammer batch = 1714) to stop working for medium speed. 
 

New Functionality and Improvements

  • Support for the newest Index Braille model, FanFold-D. (FW2-1256, FW2-1490, FW2-1492, ...)
  • Support for speed synchronized impact levels. For each speed (high, medium and low), hammer (magnet) impact will be modified to improve printing quality, i.e., at lower speeds a higher impact level is used. Requires enbossers fitted with V5b hammers (hammer batch 1714, or newer) to take effect. For older hammers (pre-V5b) the embosser will continue to function as previously. (FW2-1813)
  • Double key HELP+FEED can now be used to turn of sensors. (FW2-772)
  • New distributor defaults. (FW2-1851, FW2-1861)

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed bug that caused Layout 1 to always be selected when embosser started up. (FW2-1867)
  • Fixed but that caused extra lines to be printed when printing Image graphics. (FW2-1662)
  • Fixed bug that didn't allow user to select number of copies for complete document in menu. (FW2-1818)
  • Fixed bug that caused an error when speaking paper with inch sizes in non-english languages. (FW2-1852)

Release Notes - Firmware V5: 2017-02-15

Highlights

  • WiFi
    • It is now possible to save networks that you have registered to using wps, avoiding having to use wps again. Thereby speeding up the process of connecting to already registered/known networks. Using the menu system from the keyboard allows you to:
      • List available networks. Both registered/known and unregistered network.
      • Connect to selected network.
      • Disconnect from network.
      • Register to network using wps.
      • Forget registered networks.
  • Webapp
    • The webapp has been extended with the following functionality.
      • Ability to list available networks. Both registered/known and unregistered networks
      • Ability to connect to selected network.
      • Ability to disconnect from network
      • Ability to register to network using wps
      • Ability to forget registered networks.
  • User defined paper
    • It is now possible to create user defined paper. A maximum of 9 different user defined papers are supported.
  • Geographic regions for paper types
    • Paper types are now divided into different geographic regions. I.e., you no longer have to step through all the papers that are supported by Index Braille embossers. Instead you have faster access to the paper types that are typically used in your region.
  • Distributor specific layouts. In cooperation with our distributors we have now added distributor specific layouts, reducing the need for creating your own custom layouts. The following distributors have added default layouts that can be easily selected.

Bug Fixes

  • [HELP]+[10] now says "No network connected" instead of "no function" if network hasn't been acquired. (FW2‑1089)

  • Fixed compability issues for Humanware "Braille Note Touch". Some .docx-files were not correctly detected. (FW2‑1179)
 


Release Notes - Firmware V5: 2016-07-04

Highlights

  • All V5 embossers now support static IP-addresses for communication. The new firmware also includes a menu-wizard for easy configuration of static IP-addresses.​
  • Everest-D V5 now includes a new layout: "A4 paper - Landscape/Portrait". The paper in this layout is loaded in landscape, in the embosser, but is printed in portrait mode. This allows for a significant speed up compared to A4 paper that is loaded in portrait. ​
  • Several important bug fixes.

New Functionality and Improvements

  • All V5 embossers now support static IP-addresses for communication. The new firmware also includes a menu-wizard for easy configuration of static IP-addresses. (FW2-239, FW2-1115)

Bug Fixes

  • BrailleBox V5 would not eject paper far enough from top rollers. This caused the embossed paper to be too close to the top rollers when it was dropped into the Braille Tray which resulted in poor paper drop performance. (FW2-1107)
  • Embossers would loose pages if a document contained graphics on the last page and ended with a ^L in booklet mode (FW2-801, FW2-974)
  • Setting the Origo-parameter of floating pages did not work (FW2-1090)
  • idB could crash for large documents. (FW2-1098)
  • Network led not turned on when using static IP. (FW2-1110)
  • Fan on BrailleBox V5 would not turn off. (FW2-1122)
  • No speech feedback when activating Remote Support on V5 embossers. (FW2-1125)
